StockTwits looks very much like other social networking websites, but with a financial twist. The focus is on the stock market and other investment resources. At first, a new user may be a little intimidated by all of the information and features presented on the homepage and through profiles. However, each is well organized with clear headers and icons that make it easy to find what the user is looking for.
New visitors can register for StockTwits by clicking on the blue “Sign up now” link along the left hand side of the homepage (at the bottom of the “Join Stock Twits” box). The user is given three registration options. The first two include linking through Twitter or Facebook. Users that do not maintain Twitter or Facebook accounts, or who prefer to not link theirs, can go the traditional route by filling out the form just below the social networking registration buttons. The form asks for a username, first and last name, password, and email address.
Any social networking website benefits when more interested people join and participate. Many of these prefer to go with the free model to encourage more users to sign up. StockTwits is no different.
